Judging by the serial number, mine would have been built in approximately 1955. Making it almost 60 years old. I also discovered it is one of the few Swedish made typewriters and was originally sold in Vienna, Austria. Halda, however, had remained as a typewriter brand in the Åtvidaberg Group to the year 1957 when it switched to Facit AB. During the early 1970s, over 1,000 employees worked at the factory in Svängsta. During the late 1970s and 1980s, business was worse, In 1935, the company began to produce the Halda-Norden standard typewriter, another licensed design, as model No. 20. The company, however, had to retool its machines and return to the original Oliver design when the British government placed large orders … This arrangement only lasted until 1935 when Oliver began manufacturing a licensed version of the Halda-Norden machine which, according to Beeching, had only as recently as 1929 appeared on the market in its then-present form. Again, when the No. 20 was introduced, the No. 15 and No. 16 of the old style were dropped.

But had I known I still would not have encountered another one in the wild two years later, it would have been an easy buy. Nice when you find a typewriter that's fifty years old, but still has a spring in its step.
